At Suanluang Rachinee Public Park, Hua Hin ACM Kamthorn Sinthawanon, Privy Councilor, with Mr. Suwat Lippataphanlop, former deputy prime minister, Dr. Wannarat Channukul, minister of energy, and the Governor of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) presided over planting 1 million trees event as part of HM the King’s Celebration Project aiming at global warming reduction for “King” around Klaikangwon Palace and other seven zones in Prachuap Khirikhan Province. This was the first planting trees event out of several tree planting events. Next event will take place in July and third in August.
Mr. Suthat Phatthamasiriwat, governor of EGAT, said this project will plant 1 million trees in Hua Hin and other areas of Prachuap Khirikhan. EGAT is responsible for planting of 840,000 trees; rubber, Burma Padauk, Ormosia, Cassia fistula, wild bamboo, Pride of India and other types.
In addition EGAT also has arranged drop of million of various types of seed in Kaeng Krachan and Kui Buri National Parks to be source of food for wild animals. When the project is completed, it is expected increase green areas and to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by around 9,000 tons per year and reduce global warming.
