Khun Tuck has decided arrange a meeting with Lord Mayor Jira Pongpaibul. On Friday 09 January 2009 at 12.00 p.m. at Soi 116 this meeting took place. For the meeting came many foreigners who live in Soi 116. About 20 persons were waiting for Lord Mayor at the food shop.
Mr.Roy Hoff and other foreign residents have welcomed Hua Hin Mayor. When all have set down at the table Mr Roy Hoff has spoken about daily accidents which take place on Petchakasem Rd next to Soi 116. Very often cars hit motorbikes, causing serious injury or in some cases death. Most of the accident victims are Thai, in two cases there were foreigners. All of them end up in Hua Hin hospitals. Soi 116 is located 7km from the center of Hua Hin. Here on Petchakasem Rd owners of the cars drive very fast. There are no traffic signs on Soi 116 and very often motorbike or car drivers try to join the main traffic without paying due care. Mr. Roy Hoff said that in his opinion there should be speed restriction on Petchakasem Rd around Soi 116 as this would reduce number of accidents taking place there.
Mayor Jira Pongpaibul said that Highway Department is responsible for Phetchakasem Rd. He said that he will arrange meeting with the Director of Highway Department soon. He has thanked Mr. Roy Hoff and other foreign residents for making him aware about accidents taking place around Soi 116 and has promised that he will do something about it.
