Asanhabucha Day

 

On Asanhabucha Day is the day before the beginning of the Buddhist Lent. This is a day of worship in the full moon day of the eight lunar month, which marks the anniversary of the day, on which the Buddha delivered the First Sermon to his first disciples. The Buddhist Lent starts on the first day of the waning moon of the eighth lunar month.

In his first sermon The Buddha spoke of 'Machimapatpatha”, which mean the middle way for attain Nirvana state (released from existeance through death and free of sins).

On Sunday 28 July 2007 at the Rachayatanah temple, Abbot Prakru-Wisarn-Sama Thi-wat, has arranged Asanhabucha Day Buddhist ceremony to remember the Lord Buddha.

Chief District Officer Khun Prasit Boonlikit together with his family and many local residents have participated in this Buddhist ceremony.

At the end of the ceremony in the temple, all worshippers came out and then they walked, carrying lighted candles clockwise round a venerable person.
