On Monday 23 February 2009 in the morning at Naresdamri Hall of Hua Hin Grand Hotel Governor Khun Panchai Borwornratanapran has arranged meeting regarding preparations to the forthcoming Asean summit in Hua Hin from Friday 27 February until 1 March 2009 at Dusit Thani Hua Hin Hotel.
In attendance at the meeting were local hoteliers, business, communities, teachers, tourist police, Hua Hua municipality officials, Hua Hin Chief District Officer, Pranburi Chief District Officer and government official. In total about 300 people took part in the meeting.
Governor Khun Panchai said that it is great honor for Thailand and specially Hua Hin to be the host of the Asean summit. It is expected that 600 journalists and about 10000 officials will be present at the Asean summit. The main meetings will take place at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin Hotel. All the other five star hotels are ready to welcome the guests.
Khun Pairoh-Valee Chaiprasit said that about one hundred Tuk Tuks will be available to transport Asean Guest for shopping and sightseeing in Hua Hin. They are expected to charge reasonable fares fee. She also has suggested that Asean journalists should be able to use golf course for free, but Governor’s view was that they should pay 50% and not pay for caddies.
Vice Mayor Dr Rongroch Siluengswadi said that Hua Hin Municipality has decorated the town. The streets and parking areas have been cleaned; there will be no disruption to water supply. All residents are expected to keep Hua Hin clean.
President of Hua Hin Thai Cultural Council Khun Tuck Dechapanya has pointed out that there are some problems with parking spaces, motorbikes driving through Chatchai and Night Market. He has suggested that the Night Market should be cleaned and the prices lowered.
