Caddies in dispute with Milford Golf Course

On Monday 05 January 2009 six caddies from Milford Golf Course came to make a complaint to Mr. Tuck Dechapanya who is the Conciliator at Prachuapkhirikhan Province Court. The caddies have made allegation that despite agreeing contract rates with Managing Director from Milford Golf Course Mr. Zo Zu Jin they have not been paid since October 2008.

One of the caddies Khun Somkid Sookpul said that there are sixty caddies who have worked for a long time at Milford Golf Course located in Kao Tao Village. She has made allegations that despite agreed contract rates they have not been paid since October 2008. Each caddy is owned more that ten thousand baht. Khun Somkid said that they went to the Milford Office to collect the money, but managing director’s wife have asked them what is the reason for their visit to the office. When they said that they came to collect money as per agreed contract the wife waved her hand and asked them to leave the office without giving any explanations.

Khun Somkid said that on one occasion while her golfers were eating their lunch at the club she was eating lunch too as she was hungry. But Mr. Zo Zu Jin came to see her and said that she has to stop eating and provide services to the golfers. She has explained that she was eating only because her golfers were having lunch and they didn’t finish yet. Suddenly Mr. Zo Zu Jin said to her that she no longer works at the club. So far she didn’t get her money she has earned until that point.
The caddies went initially to notify Pol. Lieutenant Colonel Sanan Sirimongkol at Pranburi Police Station. He took witness statement from them but as they still didn’t receive their money yet they decided ask Khun Tuck for help.

After hearing their case Khun Tuck has consulted with the Chief Public Prosecutor at Department of Public Prosecutor Khun Siomjate Srisupatpong regarding this case. He said that the Labour Office will deal with this case as it is illegal to withhold payment to the caddies. They will investigate the case and if necessary they will issue legal notice to Mr. Zo Zu Jin requesting him to pay wages to the caddies. On Thursday 08 January 2009 welfare official will come to Hua Hin to investigate this case.
