On Saturday 24 November 2007 Hua Hin Lord Mayor Khun Sirapan Kramolpramoth together with municipality staff have attended Loi Krathong Festival. At about 7pm Hua Hin residents have gathered at Hua Hin center and took part in a procession towards Hua Hin beach.

The Loi Krathong procession has started from the Highway Department. This year staff from various government divisions, teacher, students and representatives of 35 communities have participated in the procession. Each section of the Loi Krathong procession have had a lady wearing gold dresses (called Nasng Nopamart which means Angel or Fairy) which were sitting on top of decorated vehicle. The procession went through Phetchakasem Road straight to Hua Hin beach.

On the beach there was a big stage on which various bands have performed and beauty contest took place. Many of Hua Hin residents have gathered around the stage and have watched live performances.

Tonight there were over ten thousand residents on the beach with their Krathongs. All were dressed in nicely dressed and united. The Krathong made on small tray, made of banana leaves and flower, with candle in the middle. Once released to the sea the floating Krathongs have created fantastic colorful light.

Loi Krathong is traditionally performed on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month, which usually falls on some day in November. The floating of a Krathong is intended to float away ill fortune and to bring in good fortune instead.
