On March 18-19 2008 Tourist Police from Station 7, Sub Division 2 have organized a Seminar titled Tourist Rescue Program. The aim of the seminar is to prepare the Tourist Police for a tourist’s life threatening situation in Hua Hin and Cha-am District.
The seminar was chaired by the Superintendent of Tourist Police Station 7, Sub Division 2 Pol. Col. Wanchai Thannatham. The Tourist Police Inspector Pol. Maj. Chaturaphat Phiromkaeo has reported that the seminar has been attended by water sport entrepreneurs, hoteliers, local volunteers and the tourist agents for Hua Hin and Cha-am Districts. Also there were various experts present from Tourism Authority of Thailand Central Region Office 2, medical staff from San Paulo Hospital, District Officers from Hua Hin and Cha-am Municipality, Marine Police and Tourist Police.
Hua Hin and Cha Am area are visited every year by millions of Thai and overseas tourists. Therefore it is necessary to make sure that the Tourist Police officers are able to offer tourists security; prevent crimes and unfair treatments of the tourists which may occur in various forms. The seminar was very useful to all persons working in the tourism sector.
Pol.Col. Wanchai Thannatham, the Superintendent of Tourist Police Station, thanked those attendants in their cooperation. It was expected that it would be beneficial to Thai and foreign tourists during their comfortable stay in Hua Hin/Cha-am, and the Superintendent was willing to support this project to the utmost.
Director of TAT, Central Region Office 2 Mr. Wiboon Nimitwanich spoke about tourism in Hua Hin and Cha-am Districts. He said that both Hua Hin and Cha Am are tourists’ destinations known by Thai and overseas tourists. The most important thing for a tourist town is the security of the tourists’ life, their property and a warm welcome by the local people. TAT will provide assistance where anything is to do with the tourists. Mr. Wiboon said that the local people had improved their businesses for tourists. He has thanked Tourist Police for organizing this seminar.
After the official opening, the seminar participants have started to discuss the Tourists Rescue Program.
