Loi Krathong Festival in Hua Hin

On 12th of November Lord Mayor Jira Pongpaibul, Vice Mayors, members of Hua Hin Assembly, Hua Hin Municipality staff, Hua Hin - Cha Am Tourism Association, hoteliers, school children, students, teachers, Hua Hin residents have participated in the Loi Krathong Festival. At 7.00 p.m. fifteen Krathong parade processions have walked around Hua Hin Municipality and then proceeded to the Queen's Park. On the parade there was angel of the year Nang Nopamas.

In each procession had about hundred persons and a traditional Thai music band, playing drums and brass instruments. They have walked about 3.5 kms from the market to the Queen's Park.

Lord Mayor, Hua Hin Municipality staff and VIPs have joined Sa Katong Daym-loh "tricycle”parade. They were singing and dancing. Many foreign residents who live in Hua Hin and foreign tourists were standing at both sides of Petchakasem Road to see the Loi Krathong parade and take photos. They have enjoyed the night very much.

All the processions have arrived to the Queen's Park at 08.15 p.m. Before the processions have reached the park, there were many shows on stage in the park. Close by there was also music band playing traditional Thai songs.
During the opening ceremony of the Loi Krathong Festival Vice Mayor Dr. Roongros Silueng-Swasdi spoke about history of the Loi Krathong day and the support provided by government divisions and private individuals.

Mayor Jira has thanked everybody for their support towards organization of the Loi Krathong Festival. He said that many schools have supported the Thai shows and the best show about history of Ayuthaya was presented by Baan Thao Takiab School. He has also congratulated Ratchapat Suan Dusit University for the traditional Thai dance performance.

After Mayor has opened the fair at the Queen's Park he went to open Loi Krathong ceremony at Khao Tao Village again. Tonight there were about ten thousand villagers taking part. After opening ceremony, crowd of villagers carried krathongs to float them in the reservoir.

At the same time around the Queen's Park almost twenty thousand of residents have gathered and waited until midnight to float their krathongs. Once all the krathongs have been floated in the sea the whole area has been beautiful lit.
