On Friday 2 November 2007 Macro in Toong-yao Village in Pranburi District was open for business. Chief District Officer Khun Siriwuth Hemtat was the chairman of the Grand Opening Ceremony of Siam Makro Ltd. Makro’s Management have invited to the opening ceremony Pranburi residents, provincial officers, municipal staff, Army and police officers.
At the beginning Managing Director of Makro Khun Suchada Itijaruku has thanked all guests for coming to the opening ceremony. He said that Makro has been for the past 18 years in Thailand. Macro is owned 36 % by foreigners and 64 % by Thais. During his speech he has stressed that Makro is wholesaler and does not intend to compete with owners of the small local shops, restaurants and hotels. He said that Makro opens at 6:00am for the wholesale customers only and the price of good on sale will be very low owners of the small shops can buy some products from Makro for sale.
Next Khun Siriwuth Hemtat said that he is very pleased to open Makro today. He said, that he is confident that Makro will not compete with owners of the small local shops. He actually this that Makro will help the Cho-houy shop business and there will be no conflict between them. At the end of his speech he has cut the ribbon and has open Makro for business.
