Hua Hin Municipality will build plastic recycling plant

On Tuesday 28 October 2008 in the afternoon at meeting room of the Navy Pirom Hotel Lord Mayor Jira Pongpaibul has arranged press conference on a new recycling plant which recycles plastic back into oil and diesel. To the press conference was invited Air Chief Marshall, Vice  Chief Royal bodyguard Chainsaw Niwarsboot, Chief Cabinet Inspector of Energy Ministry Khun Pirapon  Sakarin, Vice Governor Bongkarn  Limpapan and Mrs Santiwipha Panichkul from Single Point Energy and Environment Co (SPEE).

At the beginning of the press conference Lord Mayor Khun Jira Pongpaibul has welcomed all the participants. He said that Ministry of Energy has supported Hua Hin Municipality buy the new recycling plant.

General Inspector of Energy Ministry Khun Peerapol Sakarin, Air Chief Marshal Charnsak Nivasbootri and Vice Governor Khun Bongkarn Lipapan gave their full support to this recycling project. The new technology will help reduce waste and import of oil. Hua Hin will lead rest of the country in this technology area.

Khun Santivipa Phanichkul and Khun Suebtrakul Bintep representing Spee management announced the receipt of a contract from Hua Hin Municipality for the purchase and installation of a Polymer Energy plant to convert waste plastic into a mixture of gasoline, diesel and mid-distillates. This is the third such plant that will be installed in Asia, and is expected to be fully operational by April 2009. Given the increasing global demand for environmentally friendly waste management practices, the new technology removes the burden of waste plastic from landfills and converts it into valuable fuel. The modular plant design allows for scalable capacity, with each unit capable of processing up to ten tons of waste plastic per day. The robust process can handle plastic contaminated with up to twenty-five percent of other types of waste such as metals, glass, dirt and water. As a result, the waste plastic does not need to be pre-sorted, cleaned or dried prior to processing, which significantly reduces the overall cost of plant operation.

Vice mayor Suwit answered questions from journalists and said that the plant will cost 65mln baht and will be operational by April 2009.
