I have had an opportunity to interview Pol.Lt.Col. Withat Borirak, the Deputy Superintendent of Hua Hin Police Station who is responsible for Traffic Section. We have spoken about problem with a lot of cars for rent belonging to local entrepreneurs being parked on both sides of roads and as a result of it there are not enough parking spaces for tourists.

Pol.Lt.Col. Withat Borirak said that this problem has been persistent for several years but Traffic Police officers cannot solve it on their own. It requires assistance from other agencies such as the Provincial Land Transport Office, the Municipality Office and Highway Office. There is a need for a meeting between these agencies to find a solution. 

We had looked around Hua Hin and have found that motorcycle (service) drivers parked their motorcycles on both sides of a road, reducing at the same time number of spaces available for tourists’ cars and forcing tourist to park theirs cars at Hua Hin Temple for a 20 baht charge. Hua Hin Municipality has a lot of parking area in the municipal zone without charging fee but only few parking areas have been turned into general parking spaces such as parking area beside Cable TV Office. Hua Hin Municipality should allow use some of their areas for parking cars. Another place which can be a parking area is in front of Chatchai Market on Phetchkasem Road. IT is possible use these areas as parking spaces. 

The center of Phetchkasem Road is now blocked with concrete blocks without any u-turn points. There is only one u-turn point in the area of the Provincial Electricity Office. This blocked isle is very questionable and great inconvenience for motorists. The concrete blocks have been placed in the center of Phetchkasem Road to prevent accidents, but it force motorists to drive long distances to make a u-turn and waste a lot of fuel as well. For safety reason, warning blinking lights should be installed to warn motorists instead of concrete blocks.
