In addition to its scenic beaches and rich cultural history, one of Thailand's primary attractions for the recreational tourist is Golf. Due to a dramatic increase in the popularity of the sport - in Thailand and around the world - a large number of world-class courses have been developed, making Thailand one of Asia's premier golfing destinations, as well as Hua Hin & Cha Am .
The first Golf course of Thailand was built in the 1920'S and laid out right in the heart of Hua Hin town. Nowadays there are many other courses around the area, all of them with astonishingly high quality and very challenging layouts. Most of them are Championship categories, and many tournaments take place at them at random. Springfield, Lakeview, Majestic Creek, Palm Hills and The Royal Hua Hin are the main ones.
You can play golf all year round - during winter in the high season from November to April when the weather is at its coolest and in the low season from May through October which can be the best time as there are only a few golfers on the courses. I
Most courses have very efficient caddies to look after you and they can really help make your day - they usually know the greens and can very quickly suggest the right club selection. You will get many happy smiles and encouragements, they are usually worth their tips of 150 – 200 baht. A round will take longer than in Europe allow 4 hours minimum. Don't rush, and make sure you stop often to drink to avoid dehydration. (There are drink .stops on most courses at every third hole).
