It was built in 1869 and its Chedi is designed after the famous Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom, the largest Buddhist building in the world. The inside of the Bot is designed like a gothic cathedral. As the term Mahasimaram in the name indicates there are eight stone pillars surmounted with a carving of the Buddhist Wheel of Law.
Its most striking features are the 5-colour porcelain mosaics encrusted the main stupa. The architecture of the main chapel is in Thai-style,while its interior decoration reflects European influance. Visitors will particularly be impressed with the delicate mother-of-pearl inlay decoration and exquisite bas-relief of the windows and door panels of the main chapel.
The temple is open daily from 8am to 5pm with free admission.
