Governor of Prachuapkhirikhan Panchai Borwornratanapran together with Vice Governors Bongkarn Limpapan, Apinan Chantarangsi and Pisit Soontrirat, Hua Hin Lord Mayor Khun Jira Pongpaibul, Chief Police Commander Major General Roongros Saenkram, heads of divisions, chief district officers and police have worked were hard for about one month to ensure ASEAN Summit takes place without interruptions. Leaders of ten ASEAN countries attended the official opening of the 14th ASEAN Summit on Saturday 28th February Dusit Thani Hua Hin Resort. The opening ceremony began at 2.30pm. About 500 journalist were split into two groups and were allowed to take photos of the opening ceremony. On request of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva, Ministry of Foreign Affair looked after the journalists. The 14th ASEAN Summit closed on Sunday 01 March. During the summit leaders held discussions on issues such as economic crisis, human rights body, ASEAN integration, regional issues and immigration. At the end of the summit leaders of the ten ASEAN countries have signed the declaration on the roadmap for an ASEAN Community.
