May 23 2025, 07:00, Pol.Lt.Col. Sutham Pomsithong, inspector in charge, Cha Am Police Station, had been informed of car accident on Bypass road before Cha Am, Khaoyai Subdistrict, Phetchaburi. On the scene, there were a lot of people injured and dead before arrival of police officers, Cha Am hospital officers and Nithisawangsanphet Thammasathan Rescue Foundation. Toyota pick-up car was found totally destroyed close to a road side tree, with 18 injures (mostly Burmese workers) screaming for help. Among those injured was Thai driver Mr. Jumphol Phangsuad, 51, residing at 44/3, Muangklang, Kapur District, Ranong Province. As a result of the accident, there were nine persons dead. Eight died at the scene and one person has died at the hospital, all of the dead were Burmese workers (5 males, 2 females and 2 boys). The initial investigation found that at 06:00 on Cha Am – Pranburi Bypass road there was the pick-up car carrying Burmese workers and trying from escape highway police officers. That made the car overshoot and hit a tree beside the road. After the accident Mr. Jumphol, a car driver, denied driving the car, however he has been arrested and will face prosecution.
