HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana was elder sister of His Majesty the King. She was the first Thai Royal Princess who used to be a teacher in university. She knew many languages; English, French, Italian, Chinese and Sanskrit (the sacred language of Hinduism). She will be remembered for her endless help to poor villagers. She has traveled extensively around Thailand's provinces and has visited many villages. With the support of volunteer doctor and nurses she has taken care of the sick villagers. Today at the temple Hua Hin residents have paid their last respect to HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana. The royal cremation ceremony in Hua Hin was lead by Hua Hin Chief District Officer Prasit Boonlikit and Hua Hin Mayor Jira Pongpaibull. The ceremony took place at 09:00, 13:00 and finally during 15:00. - 19:30. Abbot Prakru Pitack has provided the Jant flowers which are only used for funerals. During the day thousands of Hua Hin residents and foreigners came to buy the Jant flowers and lay them under Malru Jedi. In Bangkok the royal cremation ceremony was taking place during 14 -16 November 2008. On 14 November over two thousands Thai soldiers in dress uniform pulled the funeral chariot carrying the remains of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana through Bangkok. On the same day, in afternoon in the Royal Palace the King & the Queen, Crown Prince and Princess took part in a Buddhist ceremony attended by hundred monks (Thai, Annamese and Chinese). On the second day (15 November) the procession has moved from the Royal Palace to the Pra Meru (Praman ground in Bangkok). Royal Prince Somdej Orosatiratch and Royal Princess Somdej Pradhep Ratanarachasuda led the procession to the Pra Meru ground. In afternoon at about 4 p.m. the body of the princess was cremated at a 40m funeral pyre. On the 16th of November 2008 the ceremony of floating Royal Princess’s ashes on the Chao Phraya River will take place.

On Saturday 15 November 2008 thousands of Hua Hin residents of all ages dressed in the mourning colours of black and white joined the royal cremation ceremony of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana at Umparam Hua Hin Temple. An Abbot Prakru Pitack Workarn has built the Golden Malru (sacred mountain in the middle of the universe) funeral pyre. At the same time the main royal cremation ceremony was taking in Bangkok. The atmosphere in the whole country was one of deep sadness.
