In addition to his normal duties Colonel Amnart was looking after tourist visiting Thanarat Camp. He had very often meetings with TAT to discuss of details of tourists visits to the camp. Initially tourists were allowed to the camp during the time when Major General Wichien Panmongkol was Chief Commander of Infantry Centre. The current Chief Commander Major General Niwat Minayotin gave a higher profile to tourism at Thanarat Camp and has created new places which tourist can see at the camp. One of them is “Tah-sadet”, the place where HM the King & Queen and the royal prince and princess have been before. There is canal at the camp on which bamboo rafts can float downstream to Pranburi River. Apart from that there is golf course, tower for parachute jumps, tennis course, cliff for rock climbing and little museum for Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat who has set up the Infantry Centre of Thanarat Camp. Now everyday many Thai and foreigner tourists visit the camp and some even stay over night at bungalows. We would like introduce to you Special Colonel Amnart Somprasong. Colonel Somprasong is currently Chief Commander of Infantry Student Centre at Thanarat Camp. He has been transferred to the Infantry 10 years ago, in 1998. His position at that time was Support Force Officer. After two years he has been promoted to Chief Commander of Student Department. On 31 August 2008 HM the King on recommendation of the Army Commander has been promoted to Major General of the Royal Thai Army Force effective from 1 October 2008.
