At the opening ceremony, Khun Ying spoke about effects of climate change and environment problems, which are result of human activity. The United Nations and Federations Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction has appealed to the world leaders to show leadership and upgrade efforts for disaster prevention and reduction. For some ordinary communities, climate change already meant a daily struggle with life and death. Especially at the local level, small things could make a big difference. The big disasters grabbed the headlines, but most disasters were smaller and attracted little attention. Yet, those small disasters added up to more misery than the big ones. While thinking globally, small-scale actions needed support. Five thousand residents took part in the 2km walk from the front of Klaikangvon Palace to Phine King Pet's public park in the center of Hua Hin. Khun Ying Sanguansri has presented 25 bikes winners of a lottery. At the end of the walk residents were invited for a cocktail party.
