Hua Hin Municipality new administration holds inauguration meeting

The election for Hua Hin Mayor and Municipal Council Members took place on May 11, 2008. The General Election Commission (EC) from Bangkok has already certified the electoral result and announced that Mr. Jira Phongphaiboon is the Hua Hin Mayor. The inauguration meeting of Hua Hin Municipality new administration on 04 June 2008.

The main people of the new Hua Hin Municipality administration are;

Mr. Jira Phongphaiboon as the Hua Hin Mayor
Mr. Athikhun Bootying as the Deputy Mayor
Mr. Suwit Rianrungruang as the Deputy Mayor
Ph.D. Rungroj Seeluaengsawat as the Deputy Mayor
Mr. Sura-Ad Narongrit, the former President of Prachuap Khirikhan Industrial Council, as the Administrative Secretary
Lt. Amnuay Thaiyanon, the former Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Governor, as the Advisor
Mr. Phairoj Makmoo, the former Hua Hin Cha-Am Travel Business Association, as the Advisor

All the persons mentioned above have attended the meeting to listen to the administrative policies of the new Mayor. Also in attendance were Directors of each section; Public Works, Education, Finance, Civil Registration, Waterworks, Municipal Laws Enforcement, Disaster Prevention & Relief, Public Health and Municipal Clerks.

The new Hua Hin Mayor has received a warm welcome with flowers on his arrival and proceeded to the Naresdamri Auditorium.

The new Mayor spoke to all municipal officers that during his term in the office he intends develop Hua Hin as a perfect city of tourism, because Hua Hin is regarded as the first gate of the province and plays the main role in various responsibilities, not only giving services to the Thais, but also to foreigners arriving to Hua Hin as tourists or those who are living in Hua Hin.

The new Mayor has said that issuing of the constructions permit certificates by Hua Hin Municipality must be completed within 1 month. He added that the authorities, who are responsible for issuing construction permit certificates, should pay more attention to this issue. A construction must not be started unless the certificate is issued according to the Municipal Laws.

Khun Jira spoke also about water meter. He has said that the charge for water meter calculated by the municipality must not be higher than the receipt issued. He will deal immediately with any corruption. The Mayor has revealed that the Hua Hin Municipality has got the developing budget totaling THB. 1,000 million, so that it must be used to improve water supply so that it becomes drinkable and clean.

He is willing to accept all criticism and compliments all the time during the time he will try to improve Hua Hin. He will arrange the ordinary meeting of the 1st term on June 11, 2008, and members of press are welcomed to attend the meeting at Naresdamri Auditorium as well.
