Shortly after the sunset, Hua Hin residents and foreign tourists started arrive to the Queen’s Park. The organization committee has arranged New Year celebration from 30 December 2008 until 2 January 2009. Local officials have provided about thousand tables & chair for the public. There were about one hundred food stalls set up selling sea food (king crab, prawns, cuttlefish, white bass), steaks, padthai (fried noodle in Thai style) and Somtam (Thai salad made of sliced green papaya). On the stage there was performing a well know music band from Bangkok. In between this group performance Hua Hin Mayor has organized a quiz and has presented Batik shirt to those who have answered correctly to his questions. 10 minutes to midnight the show has stopped and there was official countdown to the New Year 2009.

On Tuesday 31 December 2008 from 6 p.m. around Queen’s Park Hua Hin residents have gathered for the New Year celebrations. Lord Mayor Jira Pongpaibul with three Vice Mayora; Khun Atikhun Bootying, Khun Sivit Rein-roong-rueng and Dr. Roongraoch Si-lueng-Sawasdi and municipality officials have organized the Countdown Festival to welcome New Year 2009.
