Royal Thai Navy and Yacht Racing Association of Thailand under the royal patronage of His Majesty the King with other government and private sectors with the support of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) are going hold Hua Hin Regatta 2009 on the beach of Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khirikhan during July 29 – August 2, 2009. The history of Hua Hin Regatta 2009 is connected to the past event when HM. the King has crossed the Thai Gulf from Klaikangwon Palace, Hua Hin, Prachuap Khirikhan Province to Toey Ngarm Beach, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province in 1966. To remind of HM the King’s sport achievement, yacht races take place each year during Hua Hin Regatta. Hua Hin Regatta has been held since 2000. Moreover, HM. the King gave a rudder (named Vekha) of his yacht used for crossing Thai Gulf in April 19, 1966 to Royal Thai Army as a prize for yacht race winner. This year races will be divided into 3 groups as follows;
