Every year, on the Anniversary of the birth of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on 12th August, Thai people from all walks of life join together to pay tribute and show respect by decorating their homes with lights and flags and organizing various kinds of activities to commemorate the day. In addition this year marks the Centenary of the foundation of the municipality of Hua Hin.
In keeping with this spirit and to celebrate the significance of these events, the Hua Hin Municipality, in association with Wang Klai Kang Wol Hua Hin Bike Club & Sport Bicycle, Co., Ltd, local authorities and business partners, are organizing the “Queen's Cup Hua Hin International Triathlon 2009”.
Triathlon is one of the most challenging endurance sports in endurance category. In order to complete and let alone win the race, athletes are required for high discipline training, skills and strength in all 3 sports; swimming, cycling and running. Recently, Triathlon’s popularity has increased worldwide. In 2000, during the Sydney Olympics, Triathlon has become Olympic sport and it is one of the world most prestigious sport events. Nevertheless, Triathlon is not yet established among the Thai’s athletes. The organizers feels that Hua Hin, with its the world-renowned beach, is the perfect venue to promote and hold the Queen's Cup Hua Hin International Triathlon race. The aim is to bring an international sports scene class event to the beautiful town of Hua Hin where everyone, including tourists, local people and athletes can really enjoy and benefit from this event. But most importantly, this event is a great effort to celebrate the town’s centenary year as well as the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit.

To develop a good relationship between state authorities, the private sector by being involved in organizing this event, as well as with the local people and athletes.

To help improve local athlete’s skill by brining world class athletes and standards to a local event.

To allow people to show their respect and celebrate the Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit through participation in this exquisite event whether as an athlete or spectator.

Participants must be in good physical condition and have sufficient skills in swimming and cycling.

A helmet must be worn at all times while cycling

The race will be start in 2 waves:

There will be course marshals along the course.

To receive a prize or the Queen’s Cup, athletes must present a form of his/her identification with proof of date of birth.
