Mr. Jira Pjongphaiboon, the Hua Hin Mayor, made a statement to the Governor about this royal project which aim is to solve flood in the Hua Hin area. Many concerned government agencies have attended a meeting on June 13, 2008. On June 14, 2008 clearing of weeds in the waterway has began. The Mayor has said that getting rid of weeds in waterways will help prevent flood in Hua Hin area permanently and working procedures are the same like in His majesty the King’s flood prevention project. During removal of weeds and garbage from the waterways, Hua Hin Municipality has cooperated with various government agencies, such as Regional Irrigation Office 14, Ratchaburi Engineer Divers, and Disaster Center of Prachuap Khirikhan Province. The Governor has emphasized that the cooperation should not be performed only by the government agencies but by all groups of the society. Moreover, the Governor has asked the residents not to leave any things in the waterways as this will help prevent floods which always affect all residents during rainy season. The Governor also showed the example in Chumphon Province that when the HM King asked them to take care of their province, people in the province have helped each other and the flooding situation in the province has improved immediately. The Governor added that if the government sectors get good cooperation from those people in the area, flood prevention in Hua Hin will also improve very quickly. Then the Governor and other went to inspect the canal used as waterways in front of them. This canal has been dug up since 2003 to receive rainfall and water from forests. The canal begins in the Khao Takiap Village in the south in His Majesty the King’s project.
