 This year Songkran Festival was organized by Hua hin Municipality and took place during 12 - 14 April. The main celebration took place at Phone King Petch Park and at the Queens Park. In the Songran Festival took part local residents and tourists. During Songkran Festival music bands and folk groups have performed at Phone King Petch Park. In the morning of 13 April Buddhist monks have gathered around Hua Hin Clock Tower area and Hua Hin residents will make offering for them. At 10:30 am Rod Nam Dam Hua Ceremony took place at Phone King Petch Park. At 1pm the annual Songkran parade took place. Participants walked from Hua Hin Municipality to Queen's Park. There local festive activities took place such as Miss Songkran beauty contest. During the whole day Hua Hin residents all over Hua Hin and Khao Takiab have enjoyed water festival. Songkran Festival is the Thai traditional New Year taking place on April 13 of every year. On this day, the younger people will visit their elder relatives with a metal bowl floated with colorful petals, scented candles and “a small branch of pomegranate tree” for sprinkling over elderly persons to express their good wishes. Most of elderly persons will bless them back and give them a handkerchief or fruits in return.
