More than 50 players were involved this year, including Prince Carl-Eugen, Princess Anna and Princess Yoanna Oettingen-Wallerstein of Germany and Robin Brooke and Charles Riechelmann of New Zealand's All Blacks rugby team. During the tournament 3.1 million Baht has been raised to help both domesticated and wild elephants in Thailand. The Anantara's charitable organization, the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation helps to rescue elephants from city streets live. The tournament raised enough money to care for 24 more young elephants in a forest environment. The funds raised also support the first elephant hospital in southern Thailand.
